Ages 3-17 (kids), 18+ (adults)
30 minute lessons
Lessons are offered Monday - Saturday at the Mountain House High School outdoor heated pool.
Lesson Schedule
Weekday Lessons:
7:00 PM – 9:00 PMSaturday Lessons:
8:30 AM – 1:00 PMFees are $17 per lesson and are due in full during registration. You are not charged if there is a blackout date.
Junior instructors are college students and Mountain House High School students who follow a standardized curriculum for each level.
Classes are structured with a 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio, which may occasionally rise to 5:1 for higher-level groups.
Please note that no lessons will be held on the following dates due to high school athletics, holidays, and pool closures:
August: 24, 27
September: 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 17, 24
October: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 31
November: 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28
These blackout dates have already been factored into the seasonal tuition. Families are not charged for days when lessons are not held.
Level 1
Goals: float on belly, streamline freestyle kick
Key Skills: submerge, breath holding (underwater), streamline, flutter kick
Level 2
Goals: float on back, streamline backstroke kick
Key Skills: breath control (face up), back streamline, backstroke kick
Level 3
Goals: learn freestyle with side breathing, learn backstroke
Key Skills: freestyle progression, side breathing (preferred side), backstroke progression
Level 4
Goals: fine tune freestyle and backstroke, learn flip turn
Key Skills: side breathing (bilateral), somersault (breath control + balance
Level 5
Goals: learn breaststroke, learn dolphin kicks
Key Skills: frog kick, breaststroke progression (arm-leg coordination + breathing pattern), dolphin kick
Level 6
Goals: fine tune freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, learn butterfly
Key Skills: strengthen freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke (aim for 25 year completion for each stroke), butterfly progression
*There are no refunds, partial refunds, or makeup classes offered for missed lessons or cancellations due to weather or facility closures.
Other Programs
Advanced Swim Membership (Ages 12+)
Advanced swimmers who are looking to get extra practice in or work on their stroke development
Must be able to demonstrate swimming proficiency during first appearance in front of a lifeguard

Private Swim Lessons
We offer private swim lessons for both children and adults. Each session is customized to match the swimmer’s current skill level, learning pace, and personal goals.
Pricing
$60 — 30-minute private session (once per week)
$42.50 —30-minute semi-private session(once per week) for two swimmers. Two swimmers must be registered together for this session.
Fees are paid per season and varies based on the number of scheduled classes. There are no charges for holidays or blackout dates.

Sailfish Swim Team
NEW: Swim Team registration (except Boot Camp) has migrated to a new platform: SwimTopia. Please refer to the website herefor more details about our swim team and to register. We have prepared a tutorial with more information hereif interested.
NOTE: you MUST be a returning swimmer and/or have assessed for our Swim Team to register during the current season. If your child misses a season, they must re-assess so we can properly evaluate and place them on the correct team. Kids on the Comp team are currently exempt from this process for the time being (subject to change). Kids on all other teams are required to reassess should they skip a season. Seasons include Spring (March - May), Summer (June - August) and Fall (September - November).
Competitive Team
The Competitive team has a higher intensity. Swimmers will fine tune stroke technique, starts, and turns as well as develop aerobic and anaerobic energy systems. Interval and other advanced swimming concepts/techniques will be introduced at this level.
Assessment Criteria: while not the only consideration, swimmers should be able to demonstrate all four legal strokes on a 50 yard basis, with at least four strokes meeting the following time standard:
Pre-Competitive Teams (Blue and White)
The Pre-Competitive Teams focus on further developing the fundamentals for the four competitive swimming strokes in a fun and supportive environment.
Assessment Criteria: while not the only consideration, swimmers should be able to demonstrate all four legal strokes on a 50 yard basis, with at least one stroke meeting the following time standard:
Prep Teams (Blue and White)
The Prep Team mainly focuses on technique fundamentals, learning four legal strokes, and on teamwork and swimming etiquette.
Assessment Criteria: swimmers should have knowledge of all four strokes and complete each stroke, unassisted, for 25 yards at minimum. Swimmers are assessed based on stroke technique, endurance, and water comfort.
Boot Camp
Boot Camp is designed for swimmers who have completed lessons with the Sailfish (or elsewhere) but need further stroke refinement and endurance training before qualifying for our prep swim team.

Do you offer private lessons?
Yes. Please see our offerings above for more details.
What does my child need to join the team?
Swim suit, swim cap and swim goggles.
Are all kids on the swim team eligible for swim meets?
Yes, absolutely. Meets are encouraged for swim team members. Coaches will pick the events for each swimmer when we are at a meet. More details will be communicated for meets appropriately.
In addition, when our organization joins a USA Swimming league, all swimmers who swim year-round will be eligible for USA meets.
Unexpected Pool Closures: Boot Camp and Swim Team
Scheduled sessions may be canceled, interrupted, or modified due to circumstances beyond our control. These circumstances may include, but are not limited to, facility closures, mechanical failures, maintenance issues, weather conditions, or decisions made by the pool facility.
In the event of any such cancellation or interruption, no credits, make-ups, transfers, or refunds will be issued.
By registering, participants acknowledge and agree to this policy.
Pool Schedule Changes & Facility Events
MH Sailfish Swim Club operates within a shared aquatic facility schedule. As a result, swim lessons, swim team practices, and Advanced Swimming (Lap Swimming) may be subject to schedule changes, adjustments, or cancellations due to scheduled water polo activities, swim meets, championship events, school activities, or other approved aquatic programs.
Whenever possible, families will be notified in advance of any changes or cancellations.
If a swim lesson class is canceled due to a facility event, pool closure, or scheduling conflict outside of MH Sailfish Swim Club’s control, a refund for the canceled lesson will be issued using the original method of payment. Refunds will only apply to lessons canceled by MH Sailfish Swim Club due to facility availability.
Can I donate money to the team?
Yes MH Sailfish Swim Club is part of MH Flag Football which is a 501c3. 100% of your donation will be tax deductible. Please email sailfish@mhflagfootball.com if interested.
Do you offer a sibling discount?
Not at this time.
Priority Registration Policy
Priority registration is limited to ONE class per swimmer to ensure all current swimmers have a fair opportunity to register.
Registering for more than one class during priority registration is not permitted. Any additional registration will be removed, and a $10 administrative fee will apply.
Additional classes may be added once public registration opens, subject to availability.

Is the pool heated?
Yes, it is heated to 78+ degrees.
Will the club team participate in swim meets?
Yes. The Sailfish conducts internal team meets and is part of the East County Swim League where we will hold meets with other swim organizations. More information will be communicated about swim meets when available.
If my child misses a class, can they make it up?
No. We do not offer makeup classes at this time.
What if it rains?
Practices and lessons may be canceled if it’s unsafe for swimmers due to lightning and thunderstorms. Light to moderate rain is acceptable and not a reason to cancel lessons or practice. This is in line with industry guidance. Swimmers will be notified if we do need to cancel practices or lessons.
Can we cancel a registration?
Cancellations for group swim lessons are accepted up to 5 days prior to the start of the season. Requests made after this deadline will not be eligible for a refund.
Please note that private swim lessons are non-refundable and cannot be canceled once booked. All private lesson registrations are considered final.
Do you have a refund policy?
We have a no refund policy and do not offer refunds if you miss your lessons or practice. We do not offer Makeup classes.
Please note that remaining balances cannot be transferred, credited, or applied to family accounts or future sessions.
Schedule Change Policy
Any changes to your swimmer’s schedule after registration will incur a $25 administrative fee per change. This fee covers the additional processing and coordination required to accommodate schedule adjustments.
